Myter, Eventyr og Virkelighet

Monster Within

This image was for an exhibition called Myter, Eventyr og Virkelighet (translates to: Myths, Fairytales and Reality).

The image itself represents to me two different things depending on how I view it. First it's a representation of a woman who is "picture perfect" on the outside, but is quite rotten and destructive within. I wanted to somehow portray that eventhough someone or somethings are beautiful and pleasing to look at, it doesn't mean it's good.

The second meaning it has for me, is the shadow of doubt that can consume us all, the one that follows us around at every waking moment.

The lies we tell

For this piece I took inspiration from the tale of Eve in Eden and the snake telling her lies and tricking her into eating the apple. I was thinking how this can be a metaphor of how we have a snake within us that tell us lies about ourselves, about others over and over again until we believe them to be the truth. It is only until we dare question the snake we'll find that it's lying to us. I think we all at one point or another has this snake feeding us lies.

Both images are for sale, contact me through e-mail if you're interessted.
